Disease[CD]. Two of my co-workers have just
been diagnosed with CD. So I wanted to
diagnosed
find out what this disease is all about.
Gluten is the common name for the protiens
in specific grains. Wheat,which includes
durum, semolina, spelt, kamut, einkorn and
faro} rye, barley and triticale. These
grains must be eliminated
from the diet of
those with CD.
CD is a digestive
disorder that affect children and adults.
When the gluten is consumed it creates an
immune-mediated toxic reaction that does
not allow food to be properly absorbed
even in small amounts. Gluten can cause
health problems and may damage the small
intestine with no symptoms.
When gluten is removed from the diet the
intestine will start to improve.
Reading labels is the an important step to
learning which foods can be eaten. Some of
the harmful ingredients are unidentified
starch, malt,extenders, modified food
starch, binders, and fillers. This is
really about lifestyle change.
One of the most common complications of CD
is Osteoporosis.
So what can a person to eat? Here is an
example;brown rice, quinoa, very high in
protein and buckwheat. I came across a
whole section in my local grocery store
that had these special items. Also in my
research I came across Bob's Red Mill
products. Here are some of the gluten-free
items he has.
Gluten Free Oats,Signature Gluten Free,
Gluten Free Flours, and meals Gluten Free
Cereals,Gluten Free Entrees,Gluten Free
Mixes,Gluten Free Grains, Beans, and
Seeds, Gluten Free Baking Aids.
I know it has been a life change and
adjustment for my co-workers but they have
adjusted and are feeling much better since
they have gone gluten-free.
